Exit Slip

  1. Using the Exit Slips to Inform Future Lessons

The exit slips are used to informally evaluate the student understands of whatever has been taught. It allows the learners to freely express their perspectives, seek clarification, or ask a question on the new concept learned to gauge their understanding (Larson, 2013). A teacher can use a math problem or some open-ended questions on the content or vocabulary. Additionally, it gives a student an opportunity to reflect on their understanding by writing a journal or an essay. An exit slip can also contain a harder concept based on what is learned to allow for critical or higher order thinking.
