Recording Commercials Based On Emotions

Recording Commercials Based On Emotions

Pretending you have done the following activity:

Prepare to orally present the commercial three times (in one recording) each with a different emotion. The three emotional situations you use for your commercial needs to be selected from the following four possible emotional situations.

  1. You are angry.
  2. You are excited.
  3. You are afraid.
  4. You are unhappy.

Each emotional situation will demonstrate the differences you decide to make in volume, rate, pitch, and language adaptation. This is an extemporaneous speaking task. Please do not read word-for-word or memorize the message. This will be evident in your voice and delivery.

Write a reflection on this activity (above), using the first-person perspective/ narration, For instance “I think….” “I believe…” “I feel like…” to answer the below questions. Don’t write in formal essay format, just simple answer the questions.

Questions:

First, explain the decisions you made for volume, rate, pitch, and language adaptation when you were planning to deliver each of the three messages.

Second, based on the content from this lesson, what do you now notice about the delivery in the commercials that you hear every day? What decisions would you make to add to your excited delivery to persuade or motivate your listeners? Why?

Decisions Made For Volume, Rate, Pitch, and Language Adaptation. After I selected a commercial, I decided which emotions that I could apply in delivering the message. I chose three emotions, angry unhappy as well as excited. I started by recording a script of the emotion when I am angry. My volume was not much loud since when I get angry, I do tense up and am not in a position to speak loudly. My pitch was lower as when angry I clench my jaws together. And had a low rate of speech but I was frequent in my language. The next script that is recorded is with an unhappy emotion where the volume was much softer, and the rate of the speech was slow. The language was also for this recording. The last record was when I was excited. With this, my volume was loud with a pitch that was very high. The rate was faster, and this portrayed that I was happy about the commercial……….
