According to FAO, gender is defined as the material and perceptual relations between women and men. Gender can be culturally and socially constructed but it is not biologically determined by neither men’s nor women’s sexual characteristics. Sex is defined as the biological differences in external and internal reproduction organs, hormonal profiles and chromosomes.
