According to Hinnebusch (2003), the shallow roots that Iraq possesses as a nation are issues related to its boundaries and which are artificial and that ethnicity are rife. Iraq’s boundaries were designed by the British and French colonies spheres of influence after the First World War just like its neighbours such as Syria, Turkey, and Iran.  Those who are in the leadership can do the exploitation of the religion, ethnicity of their own advantage and tribe rather than working together..
