Riparian ecology

A riparian zone refers to an area between land and river which may be natural or may be engineered. These zones are considered as natural bio filters and are important in protecting aquatic life from possible excessive sedimentation. They play a crucial role in supplying shelter, food and ensuring that there are no extreme temperature changes affecting the aquatic life.
