In this segment, Bill speaks with Diane Ravitch, a historian of education, an educational policy analyst, and a research professor at New York University. She is also winner of this year’s University of Louisville Grawmeyer Award in Education.

Snap Shot Reflection:

Dr. Ravitch shares many concerns and insights in regard to Federal initiatives in education. She offers her perspective based upon an “insiders” view. She exposes problems in education as well as provides suggestions for improvements for American’s educational leaders.

According to Diane Ravitch, charter schools are the most poorly performing schools. Attending a charter is almost like not going to school at all. She explains that, students in charter schools are provided with computers and don’t bother whether the student logs on or not as the teachers are still paid and the company that supplies is also paid.
