There are three primary terrorist groups that are active and operate in the Philippines: the New People Army, Abu Sayyaf Group, and Jemaah Islamiyah. The New people Army is Maoist group that was formed in 1969 focused at overthrowing the government through protracted guerrilla warfare (Preeti, 2009). The primary target is Philippine security forces, government informers, judges, and politicians as well as the former rebels who wish to leave the group.  The group also opposes the presence of the U.S military personnel in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf Group, on the other hand, is the most violent of the Islamic separatists that operate in Southern Philippines (Preeti, 2009)………………….
