The purpose of this assignment is to learn about the awesomeness that is Texas culture. We will do that through looking at its music and its people. First, check out this link to get an idea (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Texas of the number and breadth of artists who call Texas home. The assignment is two parts; one, pick any artist off of this list and choose 5 off their songs. Then write up one page per song about what the song was about, how it made you feel, and cool things like if any historical events were the basis for the song.
So after listening to that, don’t you want to go?
Second, go to youtube and search for a show called Texas Country Reporter. You should get a ton of clips, each from about 5 to 8 minutes each. Pick 5, and answer the following questions (a half-page each): Who is he interviewing and what town are they in? What is compelling about their story? If you met them, what would you ask them?
So, part 1 (Texas Music) is a total of 5 pages, and then part 2 (the TCR reports) should be another 2.5 to 3. Write up everything in one document.
