The goal of this assignment is to examine your own health habits and apply strategies to lead to behavior change.

Your first task is to identify a specific behavior you wish to change. This could involve eliminating a behavior that troubles you (e.g., drinking too much soda) or adding a behavior to enrich your health (e.g., exercising three times per week; stretching; developing a yoga practice). It is generally best to focus on changing only one behavior, as opposed to a set of different behaviors. Your behavior change can be anything as long as it is safeachievable, and something that research suggests is likely to improve health (physical and/or mental health!). You will submit these weekly–see the journal assignments for additional information. You can begin your behavior change and tracking your progress as soon as you’d like! The behavior change must be implemented for at least three weeks

If no progress is made after the first week, you may revise the plan. You could also decide on small rewards to give yourself each time you see progress (e.g., watching a favorite TV show or enjoying a special food each day you practice your new behavior).

I would like to reduce the amount of soda I consume to at least two bottles a week in the long run. This, I plan to begin by reducing the consumption to one soda per day which I find achievable.

The best strategy is to consume more healthy drinks such as fruits juice to eliminate excessive soda drinking habit. With time, the urge to take soda will be replaced by fruit juices.
