Help me study for my Writing class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

OK, so now we’re going to take a really dark and disturbing turn in what we read with the next two stories: “The Lottery,” by Shirley Jackson, and “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas,” by Ursula Le Guin. I LOVE LOVE LOVE both of these stories, as dark and decrepit as they are. We’re going to let both of these stories serve as the foundation for your next essay on allegories. I think you’ll find that there are similarities between the two, and it’s these similarities (common themes, similar messages) that I want you to note and hold onto as you prepare to write your third essay.
