This assignment involves researching a topic in dinosaur science and determining not only the currently understood answer to that question, but also how paleontologists went about testing that idea. How do we know the answer? What hypothesis was being tested? What methods were used to evaluate that hypothesis? What evidence was collected to support or reject that hypothesis?

Rules:

The target word count is 600, double spaced.

This is a small research paper, so use at least three sources, one of which must be a published scientific journal article(ie: not a webpage or newspaper), written by a scientist. The library website (library.sjsu.edu) is a great search engine for finding articles you have access to. Magazine articles, newspaper articles, and online sources are okay for the rest of your sources.

Sources must be reliable and professional, and not encyclopedia or “fact-sheet” style pages(e.g. Enchanted Learning, Wikipedia).

A good article source will generally have an author. Cite your three reliable sources using the citation style appropriate for your major (MLA, APA,etc.). You’ll lose many points if you don’t cite any sources. Remember that scientific names should be italicized and capitalized.

Triceratops, not Triceratops or triceratops. Spell check. Write well. Use complete sentences. No plagiarism. Don’t copy sentences directly from another source. Even a sentence that is slightly modified is considered plagiarized. Don’t even quote the articles. Quoting is not plagiarism, but there is no reason to include quotes in a scientific paper. Always write your own sentences.
