What concepts in Matlin’s The Psychology of Women were reflected in the experiences you read about in Mirror on the Veil?
- Part II (3-4 pages): Write a reflection paper that focuses on the 5 essays that had the most effect on you (one essay from each part). Summarize the main ideas of each of the 5 essays and your reactions to each essay.

Growing up, one gets to notice a lot of things and our thoughts are mostly influenced by what we hear and learn from society. People around my home area rarely used any veils, so it was a non-issue. That was until I noticed a group of people women with veils around their heads and I was curious. It was explained to me that it was part of their cultural practices. At some point, I thought that it was of no significance, but with age, I came to realize that it was indeed very important for Muslim women to wear hijab. Wearing a veil was another method of expressing themselves. Sort of like the way I can decide to wear a cap every time I go out………..
