Unethical Practices with Car Manufacturing: The Case of General Motors

UNETHICAL PRACTICES WITH CAR MANUFACTURING and include this one case as one example. This will allow you to move out of what is published to what YOU could publish ( an aggregate/collection of cases).

In a 7page APA-formatted paper, discuss the following:

  1. THE ETHICAL ISSUES: Explain the problem or issue, presenting perspectives on the various sides of the conflict. If possible, include differing opinions that have been given about the conflict. Clearly state what the ethical problem is. This section should be neutral and objective.
  2. ETHICS PHILOSOPHIES APPLICATION: Discuss the way the three different ethical

philosophies/frameworks (utilitarianism, deontological, and virtue ethics) would be used to address the problem/issue. Do not present your opinions or solutions to the problem here.

  1. STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS: Identify the stakeholders and their interests/positions in the problem/issue.

Consider both primary and secondary stakeholders in your comprehensive list, but feel free to focus mostly on primary stakeholders in your detailed analysis.

  1. COURSE CONTENT APPLICATIONS: Describe the ethical concepts, and applicable laws, that apply to the problem/issue and explain how they apply. Please be certain to tie class concepts explored during our inclass lectures (e.g., moral myopia, moral rationalizations, ethical fading, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, consumer protection, employment laws, etc.) to the problem/issues. For example, you might include in this section a brief review of the scenario taking into account the “hand graphic” by Dr.

Ariely to ascertain which areas are most influential / least influential, as well as other concepts.

  1. YOUR MBA-LEVEL RECOMMENDATIONS: What are YOUR own recommendations to address the problem or issue in the most ethical manner? Design solutions and tell the reader which ethical philosophies guided your recommendations. Explain your decision-making process.
  2. DEFENSE OF RECOMMENDATIONS: How do you know these recommendations are likely to work, if applied (e.g., what other companies have effectively solved similar quandaries and what were the outcomes)? What are the limitations (e.g., weaknesses) of your recommendations? What are the delimitations (e.g., how you will “work around” or eliminate, or mitigate such weaknesses)?
