Drawdown Homework Assignment

Your Category: Buildings

“Project Drawdown is a nonprofit organization and coalition of scholars, scientists, entrepreneurs, and advocates from across the globe that is mapping, measuring, modeling, and communicating about a collective array of substantive solutions to global warming, with the goal of reaching drawdown.”

Solutions are ranked based on the amount of greenhouse gases that can be removed from or avoid being added to the atmosphere between 2020-2050 by avoiding emissions or sequestering carbon dioxide that is already in the atmosphere.

Using the Drawdown website ( (Links to an external site.)) and your assigned category (please check the group tab under People), choose a Drawdown activity/technique and please answer the following questions:

  1. What overall category were you assigned (Electricity, Food, Industry, Transportation, Buildings, or Land Sinks)? (1pt)
  2. What activity within your category did you choose? (1 pt)
  3. Is your activity meant to reduce sources, support sinks, or improve society? Explain. (4 pts)
  4. What is the potential amount of reduced CO2 and net implementation cost for your activity? (3 pts)
  5. In 1-2 sentences, describe how your activity is proposed to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere and help fight global warming? (5 pts)
  6. Google search “(your activity) climate change”. In 2-3 sentences describe two results that you see (please do not describe Drawdown if that is one of your results). (6 pts)
  7. Do you feel that the mitigation activity/technique that you chose is realistic in its application? Why or why not? (3 pts)
