Distractions within the environment entail anything that disrupts or diverts the attention of an individual at any time regardless of the situation. The paper will discuss ethical issues that occur if a patient has poor outcomes due to distractions such as the alarms in the medical devices, evidence concerning the effects of alarm fatigue and distractions in the aspect of patients’ safety.

In the current era, the advancement of technology has significantly contributed to the increase in the capacity of distractions that are within the environment. The improvement has brought about devices such as mobile phones that bring connectivity between one person and another thus making it almost mandatory for one to have a mobile phone. The advancement is in several sectors with the inclusion of the health sector, where there are medical devices which have alarm systems in them. Example of such medical devices is the electrocardiogram machine, ventilators, and the pulse oximetry machine that monitors the blood pressure of individuals. The infusing of the alarms is to boost the safety of the patients………
