For this thought exercise, you will be evaluating specific parts of thinking on the basis of clarity, accuracy, and precision.

First, please read the attached article, titled “The One Argument That Can Actually Convince People to Vote.” Please note: we are NOT reading this because it is a particularly good or bad piece of thinking. You are NOT required to agree with this author (or any author we read). The quality of thinking is for you to determine, according to the parts and standards of thinking.

Then, compose a written or recorded response in which you answer each of the three following questions (and explain your answers! You should end up with 1-2 total pages written, or 2-4 minutes recorded):

  1. What is the purpose of this article? How clear is the purpose? Explain why you evaluate it the way you do.
  2. What is the information or evidence that this article presents? How accurate is the information/evidence? Explain why you evaluate it the way you do.
  3. What inferences does the author draw from the information he presents? How precise are these inferences? Explain why you evaluate this the way you do.
