The Legal Issue

In this era, business law has been more focused at protecting workers and promoting their welfare more than ever. However, welfare of the employees is often compromised and the same business law has policies in place to be followed after employees’ rights have been violated. Workplace violence has continued to be a major cause of concern whereby workers face the risks of suffering from threats, verbal abuse as well as physical assaults. Type II, customer/client workplace violence has remained to be one the most common forms of workplace violence. Service providers have continued to be under constant threat and the rising cases of violence has proved that no one is immune from this type of workplace violence (Black, 2015). To a much greater extent, workers in correctional facilities from the prison management, normal prison staff and guards, risk workplace violence every hour of every day especially from inmates. As such, violence against prison workers is a growing concern for employers and employees nationwide.

Prison workers especially correctional officers face danger while both on and off duty from inmates, former inmates and even just someone who does not believe in the good of the corrections system. As such, prison workers face several mental and physical challenges to their safety from the inmates they are paid to serve and control. Contrary to what one may think, illegal activities do not cease to exist at the prison gate, and it is hence essential to develop consistent sources of information concerning them. In the attempt to avoid violence from inmate, most prison workers avoid getting into personal contact with inmates, which is always next to impossible since that is exactly what they are exactly hired to do. In return, inmates constantly seek to take advantage of this by seeking new ways of manipulating the condition of their imprisonment (Cashmore et al. 2016)……….
