“You have some good summarizes of concepts coming out of the readings, and a little bit of reflection on your own experiences, but they are not as clearly linked yet. Don’t worry about the broader introductory writing–go straight to the points you are making and incorporate more examples from your own experience. Think about direct connections with the articles and weave the two together — your experiences and the writings about the process.”
The tutor gave feedback on the second reflection paper that you completed for me. I got 89/100 and the feedback she gave was:
“You have a lot of good detail in here. Some examples are more clearly articulated than others (I highlighted a few words that are not what you intended) but overall you made a lot of good connections with the readings and discussed how your experiences helped you gain cultural competency.”
This essay was a high scoring one than the first one so the tutor is looking for an essay similar to the second one.

“It sounds like, at the beginning of the second paragraph, that you are putting the United States under harmony with nature? That surprised me–I would put both Europe and the US under mastery, unless perhaps you are talking about a subset of Americans, but I think the dominant value is still mastery. That is partly what is being fought over now with the environmental movements arising in many places.” & ” I do think you account for how multiculturalism in the US has led to competing value systems to a greater extent than most. I do wonder how much of that is also present in Europe (or not) as there are also long histories of immigration there as well, although not as much of an ideology of multiculturalism.”
This essay was also very good. Something similar will help.
