Professional Portfolio
Guidelines and Grading Rubric
GUIDELINES
Professional Nursing III course is designed to introduce the development of a baccalaureate prepared professional nurse, utilizing The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education (AACN, 2008) as the curricular framework. These essentials delineate the outcomes expected of new BSN graduates enabling them to practice within a complex and dynamic healthcare system. Achievement of these outcomes is obtained throughout the BSN curriculum and is reflected through student work. A professional portfolio provides new graduate nurses the opportunity to present this work as evidence of achievement, as well as their professional goals, accomplishments, competencies, and skills to potential employers. By week 8 of the NUR4828 Professional Nursing III course, each student will create a bound professional portfolio as specified.
