Write an essay of at least 3 and a half pages in which you describe your world, perfect or not, in response to Ernest Callenbach’s Ecotopia. Ecotopia Final rev. Name and describe your place, who is in charge, what it looks like. Discuss at least three social behaviors, economic rules,
customs/traditions, and/or laws in your world as compared to Callenbach’s. Even though
your place can be fictional, still use concrete, specific details and names, even if you
make them up. Some subjects to consider are as follow: communication, entertainment,
employment, environmentalism, transportation, technology, war, fashion, sex, education,
politics, energy, sports, religion . . . just to name a few. Incorporate and cite at least five
paraphrases or quotes from the novel: “Quote” (Callenbach 87). Thesis support needs to
include ONE essay from Chapter Seven in your SL book, the novel, and three other
researched sources. As a result, there will be a minimum five listings on your Works
Cited page because you can add all the SL book information to your one entry (See p. 36
and example below under Works Cited). Follow the 2016 MLA format and/or Purdue
OWL. Remember, each Work Cited entry must be mentioned in the content of your
essay. Of course, you will receive +2 bonus points for each additional Work Cited entry
done correctly (six points max). A completed typed essay with Works Cited page is due
via email no later than 9am on Thursday, June 25th (+150 points). However, if you have
completed your essay earlier, have proofread it carefully, you may submit your completed
essay before 9am on Tuesday, June 23rd, for +5 Bonus points. When I email back your
grade/points for your Ecotopia essay (and optional rewrite), I will also include the grand
total of all your points and final grade for this course.
