The sovereign Republic of Uflania has recently emerged from a civil conflict, and many of its political problems seem to be resolved (for now). It’s now ready to tackle its economic problems. You’ve been invited to attend a summit meeting on the topic of development in Uflania. The country’s leadership is asking the international community for assistance. What is your position on this issue? Do you support intervention? Why or why not? If so, what is the best strategy for encouraging development? What problems might you encounter and how will you address them? If not, what is your rationale? What problems, if any, might arise from failure to render aid to the country, and how—if at all—will you deal with them?
