How colonialism and industrial revolution shaped the world

The world we live in today was shaped by several factors. One of these factors is colonialism which led to the opening up of new regions to the international community for instance the American and African continents. Through colonialism, people were in apposition to move from continent to another. This in turn led to the spread of ideas, religions and even culture. Industrial revolution on the other influenced the modern world through urbanization. The world’s major cities such as London and New York came into existence through industrial revolution.

Problems caused by colonialism and industrial revolution

Today, there are a lot of African-Americans in the United States. The movement of these people took place during the colonial period in form of slave trade. As a result of this, a lot of African-Americans are unable to trace their place of origin as a result of slavery. At the same time, there are a lot of social evils in the modern world such as prostitution. The number of prostitutes has constantly been on the increase since many people cannot find jobs. According to history, prostitution was brought about by industrial revolution as many people were unable to find jobs in industries after being kicked out of their farms because of the land enclosure systems during the Agrarian revolution in Europe (King and Geoffrey 2001) …
