Plato’s Allegory of the Cave is very significant to my life and the lives of most people in the contemporary world. In the dialogue presented in the seventh book of the Republic, Socrates who was indeed a victim of democracy presents an allegory that not only shows the search for justice, knowledge, and understanding reality. The prisoners chained facing the wall in the cave only see shadows of things which they get accustomed to. The freed prisoner is at first disoriented by the real world outside the cave, especially the sun, but slowly orients himself to them and understands their reality, realizing that the shadows in the cave were not real. When he goes back to explain to the other prisoners, they ignore him and are hostile towards his ideas……..
