Compare and contrast substantive conflict, personalized conflict, and dysfunctional conflict.
I will use the current political divide about the impeachment to try to compare and contrast these
types of conflict. Substantive conflict is your classic disagreement where the two parties have a
strong view of the facts from their points of view about something.  For months, the Democratic party
was divided about whether they should begin impeachment proceedings against the president.  One
part of the House felt that several of the president’s actions before and after he was elected
warranted action.  But, the Speaker of the House pushed back against the calls of her party because
she felt that impeachment was a act of last resort and would do more damage than good.  This
conflict went on for months until the incident of the Ukraine phone call was revealed.
