– Data security is an increasingly important responsibility of hotel GMs. What specific steps would you, as the GM, take to help ensure your hotel is protecting the private information of guests that is stored on your own property’s computers?

Which type of FM do you think would be most valuable to your hotel? Why?

– GMs sometimes face a difficult decision when they are employed by a management company and operate a branded hotel. In such a situation, the GM’s loyalty can be tested because of the conflicting interests of staff, guests, the brand, the management company, and the hotel’s owners. Consider a situation in which the financial interests of two of these groups directly conflict (e.g., management companies seek to maximize management fees while hotel owners seek to minimize them. To whom do you believe GMs owe their greatest loyalty? Why?
