Write a critical appraisal that demonstrates comprehension of two qualitative research studies. Use the “Research Critique Guidelines – Part 1” document to organize your essay. Successful completion of this assignment requires that you provide rationale, include examples, and reference content from the studies in your responses.

Use the practice problem and two qualitative, peer-reviewed research article you identified in the Topic 1 assignment to complete this assignment.

In a 1,150–1,250 word essay, summarize two qualitative studies, explain the ways in which the findings might be used in nursing practice, and address ethical considerations associated with the conduct of the study.

If you are not confident that you used appropriate qualitative articles in week one I suggest you send me the two articles you plan to use for me to verify they are qualitative. It may save you from a less than desirable grade in week two or a need to resubmit.

Week one takes a while for me to grade because I have to look up each student’s articles to ensure they are appropriate research and the correct type (qualitative/quantitative). That is six articles for each student.

If you would like, send me the two articles from week one that you plan to critique in week two. You can do so by way of the private forum for me to quickly review before you complete the assignment.

Tools for Organizing Data

Class, I found an article in the 2009 Canadian Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing that discusses the advantages of using data software. I have attached the abstract and article reference if you have an interest in reviewing the information.

Abstract: Over recent decades, qualitative research has become accepted as a uniquely valuable methodological approach for generating knowledge, particularly in relation to promoting understanding of patients’ experiences and responses to illness. Within cardiovascular nursing, such qualitative approaches have been widely adopted to systematically investigate a number of phenomena. Contemporary qualitative research practice comprises a diverse range of disciplines and approaches. Computer-aided qualitative data analysis software represents an important facet of this increasingly sophisticated movement. Such software offers an efficient means through which to manage and organize data while supporting rigorous data analysis. The increasing use of qualitative data analysis software has stimulated wide discussion. This research column includes a review of some of the advantages and debates related to the use and integration of qualitative data analysis software.
